Helicopter tour prices in Marrakech: how a private flight is priced

By Accrocar7 min read

There is no fixed price for a private helicopter flight in Marrakech. The price is for the whole aircraft and depends on five things: which helicopter, how long it flies, whether it has to be positioned to Marrakech, how many of you fly, and whether you land anywhere other than an airport. Accrocar therefore quotes on request, with a written proposal from a licensed operator, rather than publishing a number that would not match your flight. This guide explains how that price is built and how to compare two quotes fairly.

Why don’t the prices you find online compare?

  • Per seat, not per aircraft: many advertised prices are for a seat on a shared flight. Accrocar arranges private flights only, for your party alone.
  • Hot-air balloons: searches for helicopter prices in Marrakech mostly return balloon rides, a different product with a different price.
  • Packages: some offers bundle a desert camp, meals and transfers, so the flight itself is not priced separately.
  • Unclear sources: some prices are years old, or come from pages that do not say who operates the aircraft.

What actually sets the price?

FactorWhy it matters
AircraftA larger or twin-engine helicopter costs more per hour than a light single-engine one.
Time in the airFlights are planned and priced around flight time, which depends on the route and the weather.
PositioningIf the helicopter has to fly to Marrakech before your flight, or return empty after it, that time counts.
Passengers and luggageWeight decides which aircraft can fly the route, especially over the mountains or in the heat.
Landing away from an airportA landing at a lodge, a villa or a camp needs prior authorisation from the authority, which takes time to arrange.
Date and timeDemand, daylight and the season affect availability and the operator’s planning.

Is a scenic flight priced like a transfer?

No. A scenic flight takes off from Marrakech and returns to its departure point unless a landing site is authorised and the operator accepts it. A transfer takes you somewhere, for example to a lodge in the Atlas foothills, where a landing is authorised, or toward Ouarzazate, and often has to account for the helicopter’s return. What you see on a scenic flight, over the High Atlas, the Ourika valley and the Agafay desert, is described in our guide to Marrakech, the Atlas and Agafay by helicopter.

Price on request

A written proposal from a licensed operator, with the aircraft, the route, the timing and the conditions. Nothing is booked until you approve it.

What goes into a quote?

  • The aircraft, and the number of seats it offers for your party.
  • The flight time for your route, including any positioning of the helicopter.
  • Any landing authorisation, and the conditions attached to it.
  • Waiting time, if the helicopter waits for you before a return.
  • Taxes and any fees, stated in the proposal.
  • The ground part, if you want it: a car or a chauffeur to and from the departure point.
  • The conditions: what happens if the weather or the operator moves the flight, and the cancellation terms.

How do you compare two quotes fairly?

QuestionWhy it changes the comparison
Is the price per aircraft or per seat?A per-seat price means sharing the cabin and the schedule.
Which aircraft, and who operates it?The operator should be named in the proposal, with the aircraft type.
Is positioning included? An apparently low price can exclude the helicopter’s flight to and from your departure point.
Is any landing authorised, or only proposed?A landing at a private site is only real once it is authorised.
What happens if the weather turns?Postponement, refund or alternative should be in writing.
Are taxes and fees included?Compare like with like.
Questions to ask of any helicopter quote in Marrakech

What should you send for an accurate quote?

  • The date and the preferred time of day.
  • The number of passengers, with an idea of their weight, and any luggage.
  • What you would like to see, or where you want to go, as precisely as possible.
  • Any landing you have in mind, with coordinates or an exact address.
  • Whether you need a car or a chauffeur before or after the flight.

The duration of the flight depends on the itinerary, the aircraft, the weather and the operator’s confirmation: it is set out in the proposal, not promised in advance. How private helicopter charter works in Morocco, and why a landing away from an airport takes time, is explained in our guide to helicopter charter in Morocco. The flights on offer are presented on our Morocco helicopter tours page.
