Private Aviation
Choose a private jet for long distances between airports, and a helicopter to reach places a jet cannot, such as a lodge in the Atlas, provided a landing there is authorised. Between those two cases, the decision comes down to the last mile: where the aircraft can land compared with where you are actually going, and how long the car takes from there. Many of the best journeys in Morocco use both, one after the other, planned as one programme.
| Private jet | Private helicopter | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it lands | Airports with a suitable runway | Airports, and other sites only where landing is authorised |
| Distance | Long: across Morocco, to Europe and beyond | Short to medium; long routes need fuel planning |
| Speed | Fastest over long distances | Fastest over short distances and mountains |
| Passengers and luggage | More space, from light jets to large cabins | Limited by weight, especially in heat and altitude |
| Weather | Flies above most weather | Needs visibility; wind and dust can delay it |
A jet is only as close to your destination as the nearest suitable airport. For Merzouga, the jet option uses Errachidia, then the road to the dunes; for a lodge in the Atlas foothills, it is Marrakech itself, with the mountain road still ahead. A helicopter can land closer, but only where a site is authorised, and only within its range: Airbus gives the H125 340 nautical miles at maximum weight, less with passengers, luggage and heat. Compare the whole door-to-door journey, not the flight time alone.
| Airport | For private flights |
|---|---|
| Marrakech Menara | Handling mandatory for business and general aviation |
| Casablanca Mohammed V | Handling mandatory for business and general aviation |
| Dakhla | Jet fuel and ground handling listed |
| Rabat, Agadir, Fès, Essaouira | Ground handling listed; the operator confirms it for private flights |
| Tangier | International airport; handling confirmed by the operator |
| Errachidia, Ouarzazate | Long runways and jet fuel; useful for the south and the Sahara |

Morocco · Private jet or helicopter
Choose a jet or a helicopter in the request, or describe the trip and let us suggest the combination: one plan, both legs, through licensed operators.
Price on request
Subject to operator availability, weather and, for helicopter landings away from an aerodrome, prior authorisation. Nothing is booked until you approve a written proposal.
For Marrakech to Tangier, to Dakhla in the far south, or for an arrival from Europe, a private jet is the obvious choice: faster, more comfortable, unaffected by the mountains below, and with room for the luggage of a longer stay. Jet categories, from light jets to large cabins, are described in our private aircraft guide, and Accrocar’s jet services on our private jet Morocco page.

A helicopter comes into its own where there is no runway or where the road is long and winding: a lodge in the Atlas foothills, a valley, a scenic flight over Agafay. Its limits are distance, weight and weather, and every landing away from an airport needs prior authorisation. What a scenic flight from Marrakech looks like is described in our guide to the Atlas and Agafay by helicopter.
| Journey | Usual choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Europe → Marrakech, then a lodge in the Atlas | Jet, then helicopter | International leg by jet; the last stretch by air where a site is authorised |
| Marrakech → Merzouga | Helicopter on request, or jet to Errachidia + car | Range, weather and landing permission decide |
| Marrakech → Dakhla | Jet | Long distance between airports |
| Scenic flight over Agafay and the Atlas | Helicopter | The flight is the experience |
The rules of helicopter flights, operators and landing permissions are explained in our guide to helicopter charter in Morocco; the Sahara case in our guide to Marrakech to Merzouga. The overview of both services is on our private aviation in Morocco page.
About this guide: written by Accrocar, a private aviation concierge in Marrakech that arranges jets and helicopters through licensed operators and does not own or operate aircraft. Airport and aircraft information comes from the sources below, checked on 31 October 2026, and is reconfirmed by the operator for each flight.
Frequently asked questions
A private jet for long distances between airports; a helicopter for short distances, mountains and places without a runway where landing is authorised. Many journeys combine both.
Morocco’s aeronautical publication makes handling mandatory for business and general aviation at Marrakech Menara and Casablanca Mohammed V. Rabat, Agadir, Fès, Essaouira and Dakhla list ground handling, which the operator confirms for private flights.
On request, subject to the operator, the weather and landing permissions. The operator plans the route and the fuel; a jet to Errachidia and a car is the alternative.
